The new premium compact model Škoda Scala was recently unveiled in Tel Aviv. A classy successor to the Škoda Rapid, the Scala is the first model in the Volkswagen Group to be manufactured using the new MQB A0 platform. Its brand new design concept and smart appearance position it as a leader in the compact vehicle segment.
The new vehicle also contains around 16 kg of innovative, weight-saving Borealis solutions used in several applications:
“We have successfully been using existing Daplen products in similar components before, but the new EE058AI grade offers unprecedented weight savings of up to 6.5 percent without compromising performance, which helps us lower our carbon footprint to meet committed fleet emission levels,” adds Luděk Bělka, Coordinator Development Dashboard for ŠKODA. Borealis Daplen and Fibremod long glass fibre thermoplastic materials are also used in further SCALA parts, from the interior door panels and dashboard carrier to the front-end module.
In addition to their use in the new Scala, Borealis materials will also be used to produce parts and applications in the new crossover model Škoda Kamiq.
